A doctor in China who tried to make the first official statement of a Corona virus outbreak has died of the virus.

Chinese media have been quoted by the BBC as saying Li Wenliang was an optometrist at Wuhan Central Hospital, when he identified and sent the explosion to his fellow doctors on December 30 last year.

After the statement, the police called and warned him to stop, when the State Authorities wanted to block the statement.

The virus has so far killed 560 people and infected 28,000 others in China. The doctor published his statement on Weibo on the bed, one month after first reporting the virus.

Dr. Li (34) had seen seven patients with a viral infection he compared to sars, a virus that was declared a world-wide emergency in 2003. December 30 sent a message to a group of fellow doctors, warning them to wear protective clothing.

Four days later he was summoned by the Chinese security department and asked to sign a letter accusing him of “publishing false information that caused public disturbance”.

Dr Li was one of eight people whom police said were being investigated for spreading rumors. Local authorities later apologized to Dr. Li.

When tested on January 30 he was diagnosed with Corona virus, various reports on China’s social networks have expressed sadness over his death.
