Human Rights Watch wants an investigation into the cause of death of Rwandan gospel musician Kizito Mihigo.

The head of the Central African region, Lewis Mudge, told the BBC that the agency was questioning the circumstances of his death and that he wanted an independent investigation.

Mr. Mudge added that Kizito Mihigo was representing people trying to push for change in Rwanda 26 years after the genocide.

” This is not the first time people have died while in detention or have been killed in a state of shock or disappearance, ” said Mr. Mudge explaining his statement.

He added that in 2018 a prominent opposition politician disappeared from jail and that prison authorities at the time said the politician was trying to escape but had not been found since.

Authorities in Rwanda say the suspect committed suicide while being detained at a police station.

Mizito Mihigo was detained for allegedly trying to cross the border into Burundi. On Monday the Rwandan police announced that the famous gospel singer, ” hanged ”.

According to the police announcement, the artist’s dead body was found in a room where he was detained at Remera police station in Kigali.

Police said he had hanged himself three days after being arrested near the border between Rwanda and Burundi in what police said he intended to escape from the country and join rebel groups against Rwanda.

Investigators in Rwanda say that an investigation into his death has been initiated. Police say that Mihigo took his own life in an incident that shocked many of his fans and Rwandan citizens.

” An investigation has been started. her body has been taken to a nearby mortuary where an investigation into her body will be conducted.

He had been detaining alone at a Rwandan checkpoint in the Remera capital of Kigali where he was found hanged inside his cell early in the morning.

She used the clothes she used to sleep to hang herself ”. However, activists living in the country have opposed the information provided by the police.

They said that the musician did not want to join the rebel group in Burundi and that he wanted to go to Belgium where he was living.

They also believe he did not commit suicide at the police station when he was detained and that he may have been killed.
Heavy music was the source of the problems that plagued him.

In one song he suggested that everyone killed in the 1994 genocide should be called Tutsi or Hutu.

They say that the authorities saw that as a clear challenge against him and that the killings were carried out by the Tutsi.
Government critics believe that as a result Kizito was targeted.

The musician had begun an investigation into the allegations and sought to bribe the people who rejected him.

A year ago he was released from the president’s pardon after being sentenced to 10 years in prison for allegedly killing the president and mobilizing citizens to oppose the government.
