At least 33 Turkish soldiers have been killed in aerial attacks by “Syrian forces” in northwestern Syria, a senior Turkish official said.
Many were injured in Idlib province, said Rahmi Dogan, Governor of Turkey’s Hatay province. Other reports say the death toll is much higher.
Turkey is currently responding by targeting attacks against Syrian forces.
Russian-backed Syrian forces are trying to recapture the Idlib province currently under the control of Turkish-backed rebels Syrian officials have not yet made a clear statement about the current Idlib clash, which is the last province left in the hands of the opposition.
Turkey’s military has begun to invade areas in Syria after the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting with senior security officials in Ankara.
